Vic: Killer fials in appeal

Sadistic Victorian killer PETER NORRIS DUPAS, jailed for life for the mutilation murder
of a psychotherapist, has lost an appeal against his conviction and sentence.

DUPAS, aged 47, was not present as the judgment was handed down by the president of
the Victorian Court of Appeal, Justice JOHN WINNEKE.

In August last year, DUPAS was sentenced to life with no provision for parole for the
murder of 28-year-old NICOLE AMANDA PATTERSON.

The court heard that DUPAS, who has also been linked to the murders of two other Melbourne
women, stalked the young psychotherapist for weeks before savagely killing her on April
18, 1999.

Posing as a client with depression, DUPAS stabbed the woman 27 times after he was let
in to the front room of her Harper Street, Northcote, home.

In dismissing the appeal, Justice WINNEKE said the crime fell into the worst category of murders.
