Qld: Call for more resources for independents

Newly elected Independent MP DOROTHY PRATT says Queensland Premier PETER BEATTIE should
provide independents with extra resources given their high vote in Saturday's state election.

Five independents are expected to sit in the 50th Queensland Parliament.

Ms PRATT and two others' success was confirmed on Saturday, but two others have yet
to be confirmed.

Ms PRATT, who won the seat of Nanango, says Mr BEATTIE should consider Coalition parties
received 13.4 per cent of the vote while other non-Labor candidates received 13.8 per
cent.

Ms PRATT says she doesn't consider herself an Opposition MP, but someone who could
work with the government and other MPs to further the interests of her constituents.
