NSW: Buses to replace Manly ferries during today's strike
Manly ferry passengers will have to take buses because of a 24-hour work ban, as theState Transit Authority tries to restore services through legal action.
The Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers called the stopwork after talkson a new enterprise agreement broke down on Saturday.
The State Transit Authority has secured a hearing in the Industrial Relations Commissionfrom midday today, where it'll seek a ban on further strike action until the end of negotiations.
A State Transit Authority spokesman says it's been negotiating a new enterprise agreementwith maritime unions for the past three months.
The spokesman says talks are almost complete with the unions, except for some issuesconcerning superannuation entitlements.
A fleet of buses will run between Manly and Circular Quay until ferry services are restored.
The spokesman says only Manly services will be affected by the action.
