The Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers called the stopwork after talkson a new enterprise agreement broke down on Saturday.

The State Transit Authority has secured a hearing in the Industrial Relations Commissionfrom midday today, where it'll seek a ban on further strike action until the end of negotiations.

A State Transit Authority spokesman says it's been negotiating a new enterprise agreementwith maritime unions for the past three months.

The spokesman says talks are almost complete with the unions, except for some issuesconcerning superannuation entitlements.

A fleet of buses will run between Manly and Circular Quay until ferry services are restored.
