TASHKENT, April 26 Asia Pulse - BPC Banking Technologies, a provider of Open System e-payment solutions, has won a contract to build a new national switch and processing platform in Uzbekistan.
UZKART, Uzbekistan's national payment system includes 28 participating banks issuing more than 8.5 million cards.
BPC said that the its SmartVista suite was selected to support UZKART's significant demands inherent in running a nationwide payments infrastructure.
According to BPC, the SmartVista's capabilities support and manage payments across all channels, including POS, branch, internet, and mobile applications, as well as card management services for credit and debit cards, loyalty programs and multi-application smart cards.
In addition, SmartVista has been certified payment brands like American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, and Visa together with certification for EMV issuing and acquiring.
BPC said that the UZKART implementation will also include support for EMV smart card technology and it will be leading the project to replace DUET based payments processing infrastructure in Uzbekistan's ATM, POS and kiosk networks to allow them accept EMV transactions.
Pilot testing for EMV has been planned for the first half of 2011 with full rollout expected by the year-end. Migration to SmartVista will also expedite the production of cards and terminals and will introduce e-commerce capabilities for the first time, BBR reported.
